New Tattoo angelina jolie

Sunday, May 31, 2009 posted by fashionista

slide_1655_22672_largeWhen Jolie walked the red carpet in Cannes in an asymmetrical backless dress with partner Brad Pitt, the crowds went crazy and photographers zoomed in for shots of the well-documented Khmer script on her left shoulder blade and the tiger on her lower back, two of her many well-documented tattoos.

But perhaps her best known is the six lines on her left arm with the longitudes and latitudes of the birthplaces of each of her children. Those six lines, existing on skin where an almost-gone tattoo tribute to ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton used to dominate, are now partially framed by curving lines that form a right angle.

Below are Getty and AP close ups of her arm first at this year’s Oscars, for a before shot, and then in Cannes

Hair
1. Plump and defrizz strands

“Mix a dime-size amount each of volumizing gel and shine serum in your hand, then run through damp hair,” says hairstylist Campbell McAuley.

2. Create “imperfect” curls
After drying your hair with a diffuser, use two different-size irons.

3. Set the style
Finish by applying a few drops of leave-in conditioner to the ends. “This adds hold and hydrates the hair,” says McAuley. To finish, smooth with a paddle brush.

Eyes
4. Soften brows

Use an at-home color kit to go one shade lighter than your hair. “Most people try home bleaches, but they’re less natural-looking,” says makeup pro Fiona Stiles. Dab Aquaphor around brows to protect skin.

5. Lengthen lashes
“Place longer clusters in the middle — not the outer corners — for the most believable look,” says Stiles.

6. Emphasize lash line
Apply black liner underneath upper lash lines and between lashes.

7. Mix mascaras
To make lashes pop, use one coat of lengthening and one coat of volumizing mascara. Afterward, remove excess and evenly separate lashes with a disposable wand.

8. Add color strategically
Use it just on the lower rim, says Stiles: “It looks more sophisticated when you focus on one area.”

9. Highlight eyes
Dab a light cream shadow in a sideways-V shape at the inner corners. This catches the light, “adding width to the eye,” says Stiles.

American Idol Runner-Up Adam Lambert Talks Fashion And Theatre

Thursday, May 28, 2009 posted by fashionista

“I like high fashion stuff [like] Alexander McQueen and… I just like looking at nice clothes,” he told the morning show duo. He admitted his style icon David Bowie is a major influence on him.

Another thing he spoke about was his experience in theatre. He started his theatre career at only 10 years old playing in Your A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Even though he’s proud of his theatrical roots, Adam wasn’t so happy about being labeled the “Broadway guy” when he first started on Idol.

“I think that’s kind of small minded. I think that a lot of Broadway performers that are here in New York and all over the country have other types of music they can do too and create all types of art.”

After his interview Adam performed his signature Idol song “Mad World.”

Heidi Montag fashion line?

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 posted by fashionista

heidi_montag_300x400Heidi Montag, from The Hills, is entering the “Fashion World” by partnering with famed swimsuit designer Ashley Paige for a yet-to-be-named swimsuit collection.

You will first be able to see Heidi and Ashley’s collection on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here on June 1 where they will be debuting six different styles from their line.  Immediately after the show you can purchase the swimsuits at AshleyPaige.com.

The remainder of the collection will be shown during Miami Fashion Week in July. The theme for the runway show is supposed to be I Dream of Jeanie where the models will be showing off the ‘60s inspired collection alongside Heidi herself.

Heidi and Ashley’s entire collection will be sold at both high-end department stores as well as budget stores following Miami Fashion Week. The collection includes both a luxury line as well as swimsuits that are more affordable so that everyone will be able to afford one of their swimsuits, if you really want one.

I guess we will just have to wait to see if Heidi can be more successful in the fashion industry… At least she is partnering up with a real pro so there can be hope for the upcoming swimsuit line.

Stricken Escada casts off fashion brands

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 posted by fashionista

Escada (ESCG.DE) sold almost all of its mid-price fashion business Primera to a financial investor, the group said on Tuesday, in a bid to salvage its finances after warning it could go bust within weeks.

The stricken luxury fashion house, whose gowns are worn by Hollywood stars such as Katie Holmes, has been struggling with falling sales as recession compounds difficulties it is having selling its clothes, which some have labelled old fashioned.

Escada has warned that it could go bust as early as July unless it raises fresh capital, cuts debt and secures new loans.

The sale of Primera will go some way to helping it out of difficulty. Nonetheless, the disposal has led to a hefty writedown, pushing Escada further into the red.

Financial investor Mutares agreed to buy three of the four Primera brands — Laurel, Apriori and Cavita. Escada will keep a 10 percent stake in the brands.

It will conclude the sale of the fourth Primera brand, Biba, soon, Escada added.

Escada shares fell further after the news and were down 6 percent at 2.82 euros by 1215 GMT.
